The main objective of this article is to present the chronological development of electrodynamics as followed by J. C. Maxwell to the undergraduate students. The four fundamental equations of electrodynamics as presentable to the undergraduate are derived with a focus on the lives of the discoverers. To make the content interesting, some historical aspects of the subject are highlighted. Simple experiments are discussed in support of the evidence of some theoretical calculations. The concept of displacement current which is less understood by the students is presented in detail. We hope that students will be benefited much by reading this article.
